OK so this book is a bit difficult to get through just like a Jane Austen is hard to get through because they are very descriptive. However it is very well written and very good. I would recommend this book if someone was looking for something to read.
It is not about a guy that spends 100 years living in a cave in solitude, which was my initial thought before I read it. It is about a solitary little village which is all but completely isolated and cut off from the world and how their lives change irreparably after a traveling group of gypsy's visit the village. This book chronicles the lives of the people living in the town for a hundred years or so (hence the title). Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a very eloquent writer but, as I mentioned the book is very descriptive at parts, of course I'm not saying that you must read this book it is, as always, up to you. I would tell you more about the book and what it is about but that would be spoiling things.
